For this week’s In a Vase on Monday, I’m back with more violas. Little ‘Primrose Picotee’ may be dainty, but it’s a powerhouse for bloom. It’s none too easy to use, though, as it’s anything but long-stemmed. Still, I picked a couple of stems and slipped them into my smallest bud vase.
Love the title - a teeny vase is of course a great solution to a short stemmed bloom and I really like the squat base of this one. Your early-closing plants make for an interesting dilemma... Good to hear you will be able to start potting once again soon - did you manage any at the last house?
I've experienced those same frustrations - the short-stemmed pansies and flowers that close in low light that would otherwise be so perfect in an arrangement and, yes, the smoke alarms that go off at inopportune times, like the middle of the night. You'd think the alarms would have a pleasant warning beep or flashing light in advance of those horrible shrieks when a battery is low or a bug trips it but that's clearly not part of the design. I hope your new year's celebration is quiet and pleasant.
Your ceramics want to steal the show. Lovely vase design and glaze. But those lavender and violas can handle the competition. They're rich and colorful.

Lovely little vase Amy. Pizza for Christmas sounds good. 😉 Happy New Year!
