At long last there are flowers in the garden. And now there is a vase for “In a Vase on Monday” as well.
The very first flowers to appear were the Roman hyacinths, dainty, small, and deliciously fragrant.
Then came the very first stem of narcissus from the new garden. This is Narcissus “Minor Monarque” with its small sprays of white and yellow stars. It, too, is powerfully fragrant.
Lavandula stoechas is just about to bloom as well, but here it’s included as a foliage accent.
The scent of this small posy wafts all the way from the kitchen out to the dining room.
Thank you to Cathy for keeping the lovely In a Vase on Monday running along! Do check out the other posts for this last Monday in February as spring is indeed springing in many places, not just here in the desert!
What a pretty vase, Amy. The blue and pale yellow make a striking combination - what is the botanical name for what you call Roman hyacinth? I always enjoy seeing the vases you have thrown - have you got your kiln set up again?
Nice to see you've got some spring color already, Amy. I love Hyacinths, although they don't seem to like my garden.
